RESCUE POLICY

Central Ohio Samoyed Rescue is not in the business of becoming a convenient drop-off service for people who no longer wish to keep their animals. We have strict guidelines, and we require compliance before we will assist. While this may sound cruel, consider this: Who pays for treatment of the sick, placement of the healthy, and shelter for the elderly animals? The owners? NO. The adopters? NO. The funds come from the rescue budget, and ultimately, from the pockets of those actually doing the rescue work.

ACCEPTABLE CONDITIONS

Central Ohio Samoyed Rescue will accept Samoyeds into the program for any of the following conditions:
  • If the life is directly threatened by the present living conditions.
(note to owners - if you threaten your dog in hopes that we will move faster, be warned: We record our conversations, and charges will be filed with your local animal protection authorities).

  • If the animal is not human-aggressive and/or not terribly sick, but scheduled for destruction.
(This applies to animal shelters only).

  • If the animal is found running loose and has no other place to go.
(note to owners - if you claim you found the dog, we will be checking with your neighbors).

  • If another rescue program outside the Breed accepts it and needs assistance.

UNACCEPTABLE CONDITIONS

Central Ohio Samoyed Rescue will *NOT* accept Samoyeds into the program for any of the following conditions:
  • The animal is known to be human-aggressive.
  • The animal is severely ill and probably not able to be saved.
  • The owner simply cannot keep it but has not tried to find it a home.
  • The owner has grown tired of it but has not tried to find it a home.
  • The owner wants to get rid of it because it is too old or ill.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Central Ohio Samoyed Rescue often takes into consideration special circumstances that may affect the above policies. Always tell us *EVERYTHING* when calling about a rescue. We evaluate each case on its individual merits, so you do no justice by withholding information which may convince us to assist.
