New Things

FEATURED: On Easter Sunday 2003, we took in 3 Samoyeds from a severe neglect/abuse situation in Kentucky. These poor dears have taken a tremendous amount of rehabilitaion. We started an on-line journal for them so others can read about their progress, but we've been slow to update it. Still, please visit this journal and share the joys and heartaches with us as we try to save Sara, Tyler, and Gunny.

NEWS: Due to the rising cost of rescue, it is becoming too costly for Central Ohio Samoyed Rescue to continue. At present, the Founders are spending nearly $14,000 of their annual household income on just Vet care for rescue dogs, and that is AFTER donations are factored in. We have scheduled December 31, 2003 as the last day for COSR. So unless things change, COSR will continue to support the dogs we have placed over the past 13 years, but we will no longer be able to accept new cases.

UPDATE: Thanks to a major change in the career status of COSR's director (resulting in a considerable increase in salary), COSR won't have to close down after December 31, 2003. However, while the program will continue to promote rescue and accept applications for adoption, we won't be taking in new cases until June 2004.

COSR's founders (Jay & Karen) haven't had a vacation together in 17 years, and they need to get things to the point where that issue can be corrected. Once they return, COSR will resume accepting cases as needed. In the meantime, applications will be applied towards the dogs in our program, and we will assist Buckeye Samoyed Rescue (our sister program) in placing their cases too.
