June 1, 2003 (Day 43)

Sara is resting comfortably, and healing as well as could be expected. She sits up and smiles a lot, but still won't make any attempt to take steps towards any person or dog. She hates doing her necessary "business", but while we know it is probably uncomfortable for her right now, she still needs to eliminate. Karen is mixing canned food with Sara's kibble because she isn't eating much otherwise.

June 2, 2003 (Day 44)

Today we had to treat all three for hookworm again (just a few eggs so this should finish the treatment). Treating Sara was easy, since she trusts us enough to take medicine from us at this point. Tyler was pretty easy too. But poor Gunny.... when I reached to gently pick him up, he wet himself. And when I put him beside me on the folding chair so we could administer the hookworm paste, he literally was scared... well.... you know the saying. We feel so bad for this boy, and NOTHING seems to be working!

Week 7 (Summary)

Sara is much better, and doesn't seem to miss her boys that much since we moved her in with us and away from the isolation pens. She has also started a little game with going "outside". Sara knows when we are taking her out, but she'll sit in her crate and wait patiently until the flexilead is attached to her collar. Then as soon as she hears it "click", she gets up without hesitation and heads directly for the door.

Tyler and Gunny are staying about the same. With Tyler, we've seen some improvement in his attitude. But Gunny.... not a flicker a difference.
