SAMOYED RESCUE

IT TAKES EVERYONE

Samoyed rescue is not just about large, organized efforts saving hundreds of dogs each year! More directly, it's about the INDIVIDUAL efforts, done one at a time, and the single acts of humanity and love.

Everyone working together, each doing what they can to help preserve the quality of life for our beloved Breed. That's what rescue really is, afterall.

So, how can you help? Take a look

at the following topics!

ADOPTION

Ok, so I'm encouraging you to adopt, would that be so terrible? Think about it: a loving, sweet, adorable, gentle friend, waiting for you when you come home from work, tail wagging, eager to listen to the sound of your voice, wanting only your friendship, a loving pat on the head, and a bit of food in return. I can think of much worse things to have waiting for me each evening.....

DONATIONS

No, I don't necessarily mean money (although it is always a welcome gift). Rescue groups need so many things! Want some examples?

Cleaners (floor/kennel), Collars, Combs, Crates, De-matting tools,
Dental care products, Deodorizers, Dishes/bowls, Dryers,
Ear care products, Flea/tick products, Food, Grooming arms,
Grooming loops, Grooming tables, I.D. tags, Leashes, Matting/pads,
Pin brushes, Scissors, Shampoo, Slicker brushes,Spray bottles,
Toenail clippers, Towels, Toys, Treats, And much more!

As you can see from the list, virtually everything helps. All of these items drive up the cost of the rescue effort. Yet individually, their cost is nominal. If many people would donate only a little bit, the result would be a tremendous help to local rescue programs.

FOSTER HOMES

Open your home to a Samoyed in need. It won't be forever (unless you want it to be!), so your life will only be temporarily (and probably pleasantly) interrupted. At times, even a day or two is all that is needed to make a difference if a life can be spared or not. You won't be required to pay medical costs unless specifically agreed to, so please, give a Sammie a chance: Put out the welcome mat.

REFERRALS

One of the hardest areas concerning rescue is the task of finding suitable homes. You can help! Spread the word to those you know. Ask around. You don't have to go out of your way, but when people ask you about your dogs, share your stories, then add "Oh, by the way......"

VOLUNTEER

You can help out by giving a few hours of your time each month. Help brush or bathe a dog. Lend a helping hand. The worst that could happen is the hand you offer gets licked lovingly.

Or you could offer a ride! Transportation is always a big problem with rescue. You can help pick up a dog from a shelter, take a trip to the Vet, or even give a new placement a ride to it's new home! If you show dogs, you can offer a lift to a rescue needing relocation to another state.
