THE COST OF RESCUE

Cleaning up other peoples' problems and disregard for life is not cheap. Often the dogs come to us having never seen a Vet, no shots, and never being on heartworm medication. Some have open wounds, some are shot, while others are so mentally scarred that they cower in fear. All of this is correctable, but none of it can be done without rescue funds.

And consider this as well. Each rescue requires food, a crate, padding to sleep on, bowls, a collar, a leash, and yes, even toys. All items that must be purchased by the rescue group, and most of it often leaves with the animal when it is placed. Which means the next rescue will require the expense all over again.

And what about transportation? We have driven for several states to place a dog. We pick up animals from all over. And the cost of maintenance and gas is not reimbursed.

For the record, the average rescue costs Central Ohio Samoyed Rescue $260. Multiply that by the hundreds of cases we get each year, and you will see rather quickly that we can *ALWAYS* use help, as can *ALL* of the rescue groups!

CORPORATE FUNDING

Limited corporate assistance for Central Ohio Samoyed Rescue is provided by Netwalk, for our website. Through their generosity, we are able to reach more people than the average program. However, that means increased rescue placements and special rescue cases, which also means we must be more careful and adhere to the rules a bit tighter than many other programs, due to the expense and limited budget. COSR also receives help from Purina in the form of discounted ProPlan dog food.

PRIVATE FUNDING

Like all rescue groups, Central Ohio Samoyed Rescue must generate funds through events and private donations. Raffles, puppy fairs, rescue booths, and pet-related events at local animal shelters and pet supermarkets help produce much needed money. And these events often have a positive side-effect as well: generation of potential homes.

DONATIONS

As much as Central Ohio Samoyed Rescue would like to see everyone donate, we must also encourage you to support the rescue program nearest you. EVERY group needs assistance, not just us. If you are unsure which organization handles rescue for your area, call us for the information. Or send us an e-mail, and we will direct you to the people to contact.
